1. Today marks a pivotal moment in Myanmar’s history as revolutionary forces and the entire ethnic population unite to overthrow the military dictatorship and usher in a new era of democracy and a new system. On this International Day of Democracy, we urge the regional and international community to unite in support of the people of Myanmar. By closely observing past political processes and present developments, and by respecting the efforts of the Myanmar people, we can work together to resolve the ongoing crisis and help build a just and democratic future for the country.
2. Despite enduring decades of brutal oppression and violence under various military dictatorships, the people of Myanmar have remained steadfast in their pursuit of democracy and human rights. Countless lives have been lost in this struggle, with numerous individuals subjected to unlawful arrest and detention. Despite ongoing challenges, the people of Myanmar continue to demonstrate remarkable cooperation, exploring new strategies and working together to build a better future.
3. True sovereignty lies with the people, and any political reforms must be initiated and carried out by their expressed will. Individual persons or groups do not have the authority to dictate the course of a nation. Throughout history, military dictators have consistently ignored the will of the people, oppressing them through force and violence. Their self-serving agendas have often led to widespread conflict and suffering.
4. Therefore, cooperating with military dictators or supporting them will only exacerbate the Myanmar crisis, prolonging the suffering of the people. Such actions are counterproductive and will not contribute to a peaceful resolution. To resolve the current crisis and pave the way for a peaceful future, it is imperative to establish strong and practical cooperation with democratic forces, ethnic revolutionary organizations, and all those who are actively working towards democracy and human rights in Myanmar.
5. We express our deep appreciation for the countries, organizations, and individuals who have stood in solidarity with the people of Myanmar in their long struggle for democracy. We urge the international community to continue working closely with us to strengthen democracy in Myanmar. We extend our deepest gratitude and admiration to all the ethnic people who have bravely participated in this revolution, despite facing immense challenges and hardships.
6. The success of this revolution is a testament to the unwavering participation and support of the ethnic people. The military dictatorship’s failure to maintain control through brute force is a direct result of the resistance and resilience of the ethnic population. Faced with mounting defeats from all sides, the military dictators are resorting to various tactics to cling to power. The ethnic people and revolutionary forces must unite in their resistance, working together with mutual understanding, strength, and support to dismantle the dictatorship.
7. As elected representatives of the people, we, the parliamentarians, are actively joining the ongoing revolution. We are committed to upholding the values of democracy, human rights, and peace, and we pledge to act in accordance with the will of the people we serve. We will continue to work in solidarity with various revolutionary forces to build a safe and peaceful future for all the ethnic population in Myanmar. We remain steadfast in our commitment to upholding the will of the people.
