Statement on the Coordinated Sanctions of the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada

1 November 2023

1.  The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) thankfully welcomes the coordinated actions that the United States imposed targeted sanctions on the illegal State Administrative Council-controlled the Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) provided foreign revenues to purchase weapons and military materials which have been used to commit human rights violations and terrorist acts by the unlawful military junta, and the United Kingdom and Canada also imposed sanctions against individuals and entities provided financial services to the junta and the supply of weapons and military materials as involving in the attacks against civilian populations.

2.  We urge again the international community to take possible measures by individual or coordinated manner to immobilize the flow of weapons and military materials, aviation fuel, and financial revenues to the military junta because the junta is increasingly continuing their atrocities across the county in order to control the country unlawfully, and brutal acts with powerful weapons including air-strikes have been escalating in this year.

3.  The people of Myanmar are resisting with their best resilience to end illegal coup and military atrocities as soon as possible because peace and stability are in urgent need in Myanmar as thousands of Myanmar’s people have been forced to flee and have lost their fundamental rights as well as they have suffered badly military junta’s violence and unlawful acts.

4.  Therefore, we strongly urge the international community to increase more the effective and practical assistances to Myanmar’s democratic forces and people who are working to establish federal democratic state and to put more diplomatic and economic pressure in order to cease the ongoing crisis and to bring a peaceful future for the people of Myanmar.
