30 March 2025
1. We extend our heartfelt prayers and wishes for peace of mind and good health to all Muslims on this occasion of Eid al-Fitr, a special day for the Muslim community.
2. Although Eid al-Fitr should normally be a celebration filled with joy, charity, and feasts for our citizens who are followers of Islam, our brothers and sisters who have observed the fast during the month of Ramadan, the powerful earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale that struck parts of Myanmar on March 28, 2025 has destroyed the religious buildings of various communities. The earthquake struck on a Friday, a holy day for Muslims; many Muslims who had come together in prayer have lost their lives, as noble Shahid. Today, Eid al-Fitr, has become a time of mourning for the bereaved: parents, siblings, and relatives. We, the Committee Representing the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, express our condolences to our Muslim families.
3. We issue this statement in deep sorrow, praying that the deceased may rest in peace and be granted a good place with Allah, and that Allah may grant the bereaved family members the strength to endure with full fortitude.
The Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw
