EP Vice President called EU and ASEAN to clearly and unequivocally take a stance on the Myanmar junta’s planned election in August 2023 and to continue EU’s support to the Democratic Forces in Myanmar

Vice President Heidi Hautula of European Parliament called EU and ASEAN to clearly and unequivocally take a stance on the Myanmar junta’s electoral exercise planned for August 2023 and EU’s support of capacity building development to the Democratic Forces in Myanmar during parliamentary debate on 14 December. She defined that forces are National Unity Government, the National Unity Coordination Council and the Ethnic Resistance Organizations for required knowledge, skills and resources for governance and administrative sectors.

Vice President Heidi Hautula also added “The devastating situation in Myanmar after military coup of 1 Feb 2021 must be an important topic in the summit tomorrow. Regarding military junta\’s election, she pointed out They call it, election but it is not an election. It cannot be called a such. She welcomed the call by the recent ASEAN\’s November Summit to international community to work together to solve Myanmar\’s conflict and urged to make real a genuine federalist and inclusive democracy for Myanmar in the future.
