On 22 November, the leaders of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) and the National Unity Government (NUG) met and discussed with Norwegian MPs from different political parties through Video-Conferencing. In the meeting, the leaders presented about the current works and future agendas of CRPH, NUCC and NUG, the ways to cooperate with the Norwegian government, the continued supports by the Norwegian Parliament, the challenges and sustained progresses of NUG’s diplomacy and requests to Norway Government to enhance the status of diplomatic relations with NUG.
During the discussion, CRPH Chairman U Aung Kyi Nyunt presented the stand, policy and current businesses of the CRPH, the atrocities and crimes by the military junta after the illegal coup, the urgent needs of humanitarian assistance for those who have been displaced by conflicts and CDM government officials, and military regime’s efforts to hold sham election to have impunity from their committed crimes against Myanmar’s people. Chairman also requested to Norwegian parliamentarians to continue their support and efforts to adopt a resolution by Norwegian Parliament to officially recognize the CRPH and NUG as the legitimate parliament and government of the Myanmar whereas condemning military junta as terrorist and to accept the official recognition by the Norwegian government and to cooperate with the CRPH, NUCC and NUG in effective and practical manner which would save many lives in Myanmar.
In the interactive discussion, Norwegian MPs reaffirmed that they stand and support with the people of Myanmar who are working to restore democracy in the country and they are preparing to continue their efforts in order to return democratic pathway and to establish a future federal republic in Myanmar. MPs also committed to present about Myanmar’s situation and humanitarian crisis to the parliament and to urge to their government to develop a plan for effective assistance to the revolutionary forces in Myanmar.
In the meeting, Norwegian MPs led by Mr. Ola Elvestuen, Member of Parliament of Norway, CRPH Chairman U Aung Kyi Nyunt, U Maung Maung, Myanmar Labour Alliance of the NUCC, U Toe Kyaw Hlaing, General Strike Collaboration Committee of the NUCC, U Aung Myo Min, Union Minister for Human Rights (NUG), Dr. Win Myat Aye, Union Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (NUG), Naw Susanna Hla Hla Soe, Union Minister for Women, Youths and Children Affairs (NUG), Dr. Sasa, Union Minister for International Cooperation (NUG), U Moe Zaw Oo, Deputy Minister for NUG’s Foreign Affairs, Professor Kristain Stokke from University of Oslo and U Maung Maung Myint, NUG Representative in Norway were present.
