CRPH’s delegates attended the Annual Forum of the ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights – APHR held in Jakarta, Indonesia

With the invitation by Chairperson Hon. Mecry Chriesty Barends and Co-Chairperson Hon. Charles Santiago of the ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR), the delegates of the Committee Representing Pyiduangsu Hluttaw attended the APHR Annual Members’ Forum which took place in Jakarta, Indonesia from 3 to 5 March 2023.

On the first day of the forum held in the House of Representatives of Indonesia, Hon. Dr. Win Myat Aye (MP) presented the role of the CRPH, the National Unity Government (NUG) and the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) and cooperative works among them, the challenges and difficulties of the CRPH in implementing its functions at the “Roundtable Discussion on Myanmar Crisis, ASEAN Issues and the role of Indonesia and Parliamentarians”

At the experience sharing session held on the day-2, Hon. Dr. Win Myat Aye (MP) gave a presentation titled “CRPH’s Call to end violence and to restore democracy in Myanmar”. He highlighted “the situation of serious violence by illegitimate military junta, the efforts of elected parliamentarians to end military violence” and called for international community to support the efforts of the CRPH and elected MPs in Myanmar. In addition, Hon. Mr. Nay Myo Htet (MP), Secretary of CRPH Financial Affairs Committee shared “the challenges of elected MPs in Myanmar” at MPs at Risk session and includes the human rights violations of military junta to the elected MPs after the coup attempts including the situation of arrests and killings by military junta” and urges “the international to support and cooperate with the democratic forces to eliminate the military dictatorship and to establish federal democratic state.”

CRPH thanks the APHR for its kind invitation and solidarity with our democratically elected MPs in such difficult time by many possible ways, and organizations as well which supported to organize such productive event of the ASEAN Parliamentarians of Human Rights (APHR).
