On 22 November 2022, a resolution on parliamentary diplomacy regarding the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar was adopted unanimously by the Meeting of the Committee of Political Matters at the ongoing 43rd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This resolution was sponsored by Indonesia Parliament and the Indonesia submitted the draft resolution on Parliamentary Support to the Situation in Myanmar, calling to bring peace, stability and democracy back to Myanmar at the 42nd General Assembly. However, the draft resolution did not reach consensus to adopt by the Meeting of the Committee Political Matters.
The Political Committee adopted the five resolutions related to the report of the 13th AIPA Caucus and ASEAN-AIPA Leaders’ Interface meeting, promoting peace, solidarity, and multilateralism through ASEAN Centrality, Enhancing parliamentary diplomacy on maritime security in Southeast Asia, and Parliamentary diplomacy for the implementation of ASEAN Five-Point Consensus.
The 43rd AIPA General Assembly was hosted the National Assembly of Cambodia from 20 to 25 November 2022 with the theme “Advancing Together for Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient ASEAN”.
